Pastel on canvas

In his later years, Edouard Manet had difficulty
in walking but painted many portraits with pastels,
which were easy and convenient to use. Most of them
are busts of young beautiful ladies, whose brilliant
beauty is expressed skillfully with his excellent
drawing techniques and the features of pastels.
The model of this work is Jeanne Martin from Bordeaux,
the southwestern part of France.
Attracted by her lively charm, he produced 3 portraits
(1 oil painting and 2 pastel paintings).
